Stone Carpet Garage-Floor Resurfacing

It’s a ½-inch layer of natural river stones trowelled into a high-solids, UV-stable epoxy binder. Unlike thin paint-type coatings, the open matrix creates a textured, permeable surface that lets water drain through and hide slab imperfections.

• Thickness & crack-bridging: ½″ stone layer vs. 8-20 mil film, so hairline cracks and stains disappear.
• Porosity: stone carpet “breathes,” reducing vapor-pressure bubbles that can pop film coatings.
• Built-in grip: the pebbles give natural traction, whereas smooth coatings need broadcast grit.

Most two- or three-car garages are prepped and poured in one working day. The floor is walkable after ~6 hours and ready for vehicles at the 24-hour mark (70 °F / low humidity).

No—because the stones dissipate heat and the binder’s heat-deflection temp is far above summer tire temps. Hot-tire pickup is a problem with thin or water-based epoxies, not with high-solids pebble systems.

The pebble texture provides built-in micro-grip, making it noticeably more slip-resistant than smooth resin films; additional non-slip additive can be broadcast on request for workshop zones.

Liquids drain into the voids but sit on top of the sealed stones, so spills wipe up easily. Routine cleaning is simply broom, shop-vac, or hose-down with mild detergent.

Normal sweeping/hosing plus an optional clear “reglaze” every 2–3 years keeps the epoxy binder UV-fresh and stain-proof. Reglaze material cost is homeowner-paid, per our maintenance guidelines. (See warranty details below.)

Abuse such as battery acid, brake-cleaner puddles, prolonged standing water, or dragging metal dollies can scar the binder. Substrate movement that cracks the concrete can transmit through any coating.

Yes. Individual areas can be re-prepped and re-trowelled; color-matching is usually seamless because the same pebble blend is used.

A 3-year limited warranty covers adhesion failure and cracking not caused by substrate movement. Exclusions: abuse (impact, over-weight loads, harsh chemicals), UV discoloration, water staining, color variation vs. samples, or lack of routine reglaze. Implied warranties of merchantability/fitness are disclaimed to the maximum extent allowed by law; indirect or consequential damages are excluded.

We diamond-grind the slab, vacuum dust, fill cracks, and profile edges so the binder keys mechanically into the concrete. Proper profile is critical for adhesion and hot-tire resistance.

Minor oil spots are de-greased during prep; heavy saturation may need a deeper grind or local overlay. Because the floor is permeable, residual slab moisture vents through the matrix—reducing bubble risk vs. solid films.

The UV-stable epoxy we use resists yellowing; natural stones hold their color indefinitely. Darker blends hide tire dust better, lighter blends stay cooler in direct sun.
